LORI HAZLETT TO STEP DOWN AS CEO OF THE PARKS ALLIANCE

Greg Fennig named Interim CEO

 

Indianapolis, IN – The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis announced today that Lori Hazlett will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer after 18 years with the organization effective June 30, 2023. The announcement was made to The Parks Alliance stakeholders and partners over the last two weeks.

 

“It has been an honor and a privilege to lead this organization and witness the tremendous growth and positive impact that has been made. Together, we implemented transformative change, enhanced facilities, expanded programs, and improved the overall quality of life for the Indianapolis community,” said Hazlett. “I believe it is the right time for me to explore new opportunities and contribute my skills and experience to new endeavors.”

 

The Parks Alliance is a non-partisan, 501(c)3 non-profit, and proud partner of the Central Indiana Community Foundation that exists to connect resources to needs by uniting government and community on behalf of Indy’s parks and public spaces. For more than 30 years, The Parks Alliance has worked alongside Indy Parks & Recreation to identify needs and opportunities to develop and maintain Indy’s parks, trails, greenways, and public spaces.

 

“Lori has led this organization to the next level of excellence,” said Victoria Schneider Temple, Chief Executive Officer at The Schneider Corporation and Chair of The Parks Alliance Board of Directors. “Throughout her tenure, The Parks Alliance has experienced tremendous growth. We look forward to building upon her legacy as we identify the next CEO.”

 

The Board of Directors have assembled a search committee to name the next CEO of The Parks Alliance. The search committee includes:

    Chief Executive Officer at The Schneider Corporation

  • Sharon Clark | Co-Founder at AspireHouse Indy
  • John Jackson | Partner at RATIO Architects
  • Kevin Osburn | Principal at Rundell Ernstberger Associates
  • Ryan Vaughn | President at Sondhi Solutions

 

Greg Fennig will serve as Interim CEO of The Parks Alliance beginning July 5. Fennig is a former member of The Parks Alliance Board of Directors and served as Chair of the Board from 2009 to 2011. During his Board leadership, he was the Vice President of Public Affairs at Indianapolis Power & Light Company (now AES Indiana). He retired earlier this year after 3 years as Chief Marketing Communications and Community Relations Officer at United Way.
