Indy Urban Acres Farmer, Tate Nielsen has been with us for about a half decade and like many of the other farmers, he has become a pillar of the IUA Farm Family. It just isn’t the same without him.

We are lucky to have him and thought you should  get to know him too! Have fun “meeting” Tate!

Q: What motivates you to farm?

Tate: I like figuring out all the little details

Q: How long have you been farming?

Tate: 5 years or so.

Q: Which would you rather do: plant, harvest, water, or package?

Tate: I do love to plant. It’s the first step and a chance to plan the rest of the season.

Q: What life lessons can be taken from farming?

Tate: You have to do alot of things that you don’t see the effects of until much later, so you have to do it the best you can and trust yourself.

Q: What is your favorite fruit/veggie from the farm?

Tate: I’m loving the okra. I can eat a couple raw in the field, but I also fry them with potatoes

Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve seen out at the farm?

Tate: Being in the middle of a honeybee swarm was pretty interesting.

Q: When you’re done farming for the day. What will you be doing?

Tate: I’ve got a lot of other living things I take care of: plants, bugs, worms, bacteria, wild birds, etc.

Q: What do parks mean to you?

Tate: An outdoor place for people to come together.

Q: What are you listening to right now?

Tate: You’re not going to believe this, but country music: Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline.

Q: Okay, you have 3 seconds to choose a karaoke song. What would you sing?

Tate: Anything Elvis

That’s Tate! He hopes to see you at the farm sometime soon!
