Hello and happy New Year!

We hope you recognize us, but if not, we understand. You’ve been busy navigating a pandemic. In October of 2020 we made the switch from the Indianapolis Parks Foundation to The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis. The new name comes with a new logo, new office space in the heart of Riverside Regional Park, and renewed mission.

Rest easy knowing The Parks Alliance will continue to serve our parks in the same capacity as before. What’s different is we are creating inspiring park spaces for a small number of transformative parks for today, and ensuring they are maintained and programmed for future generations.

Through extensive research and planning, our staff, board, and community partners have identified four priority parks for us to focus our efforts. Riverside Park, Tarkington Park, Frederick Douglass Park, and Indy Urban Acres.

All four of these areas serve a diverse group of Indy residents and visitors, and we want to ensure they are a shining light for residents and visitors alike.

If you would like to support these parks and our mission, you’re in luck because it’s never been easier. You love parks. You love local. Here’s your chance to show your love and get some goods. Donate $150 or more before Jan. 25, to receive an Ally Supply Box. Located along the White River and stretching from 16th Street to 38th Street, Riverside Regional Park is nearly 900 acres of parkland that offers a diverse array of developed and natural spaces. The Implementation of the Riverside Park Master Plan — completed in 2017 — will be one of the most transformative initiatives ever undertaken in Indy and presents the opportunity to demonstrate that parks are a critical part of our environment, community, economic development strategy, and quality of life. The $120 million Master Plan was designed to be phased in over the next 20 years. Our team is committed to working with the Riverside Park staff, Foundation, and neighborhood to bring this vision to fruition. The nearly $10 million Taggart Memorial Restoration and Amphitheater will be a catalyst for future investment and a significant turning point for the resurgence of Riverside Regional Park.

Located in the heart of Midtown Indy at 38th and Illinois Streets, Tarkington Park serves as a gathering space for families and individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. We are excited to engage with our partners from Midtown Indy and the MLK Center to operate, maintain, and program Tarkington Park to continue free and public use of this 10.5-acre park while leveraging the resources of its partners to sustain a clean, safe, creative, and engaging neighborhood park.
